Free Smoke Alarm for Your Home
Northgate Ward Residents Eligible Only
Like many local people, I was deeply saddened by the recent house fire at Virginia that claimed two lives.
This very distressing incident should remind us how important it is to ensure safety around our homes for our families and ourselves.
There is no doubt that smoke detectors save lives.
That’s why I’ve purchased some home smoke detectors that I’m offering for free to any resident of Northgate Ward, who doesn’t currently have one installed in their home.
If you already have them installed, I implore you to check they work and that the batteries are fresh.
If you don’t yet have a smoke detector, please contact me and I’ll personally drop one off to your home. If you are physically unable to install the detector, I’ll help you get in contact with organisations that can offer assistance.
It’s really simple to get a free smoke detector - just ring me at the Ward Office and I’ll drop one off to you (ph 3403 2210).

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my Northgate Ward Livability Committee for agreeing to fund this project. We know smoke detectors won’t necessarily stop house fires...but we really hope someone’s life might be saved through this project.
