The suburbs of Banyo and Nudgee have a close knit community. It's a bit like a small country town.
The local community have been working on a great web-site that describes history, stories and people - go to Brisbane Stories - Banyo/Nudgee.
It’s believed that the name Nudgee, came from the aboriginal (Oondumbi clan) words N’mugi or Na’dah, meaning the ‘home of wild ducks’. Black ducks and Wood ducks are still regularly seen in the area. |
