WAVELL HEIGHTS

Wavell Heights was named in honour of Sir Archibald Wavell, General Commanding Officer Australia/New Zealand in the Western Desert during World War II.  During that war, many soldier camps were located in the Wavell area.  The suburb was officially named on 5th August 1941.  Wavell Heights quickly developed as a popular residential area soon after the war.
